Happy June, readers, and welcome back! I certainly hope you started the month off with a bang; I certainly did, having spent the last few days working on clearing out some bad vibes from my workplace. I'll spare you all the gory details, but suffice it to say that there was some nasty energy hanging around the store, making everyone feel icky, and with the help of Scott Cunningham, my personal witchcraft idol, I put together some magical cleaning agents, so to speak, to clear the air a bit. It seems to be working so far, to my utter delight; it's always such a gratifying feeling when one's magical initiatives go well.
On that cheerful note, let's move on to what you came here for; as we are still in Gemini season, I'll continue my efforts to keep these posts informative to the best of my abilities. My usual pre-reading ritual, as explained in more detail last week, is to lay out my altar cloth, light some incense - I just finally got my hands on some peppermint incense, and elected to use that - then clear and shuffle the cards before laying them out in their spots.
The layout of the cards is such:
 |
image ID: 12 tarot cards laid out face down on an altar cloth, with the symbols of the zodiac signs overlaid on them. The signs, left to right, are: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces, Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Libra, Aquarius, Gemini, Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo. |
The categorization of the twelve signs of the zodiac is something that would likely take an entire post to thoroughly explain, so I'll keep it short and only quickly go over what "cardinal", "fixed", and "mutable" means. A Cardinal sign is the sign that occurs first in its respective season, thus effectively 'kicking off' the season. A Fixed sign is the sign that sits directly in the middle of its season, at the season's peak. A Mutable sign is the sign at the end of the season, wrapping it up, and making way for the next season to be ushered in. In this spread, as my altar cloth has a designated quadrant for each element, I organize the signs in that order - cardinal, fixed, and mutable - of each respective element. This week, the cards themselves fell thus:

So now let's get to the interpretations.
Cancer ♋ (June 21 - July 22): The Lovers
If you've been looking for a partner, Cancer, this is your lucky week, though this card doesn't always refer to a romantic partnership. This could apply to a business partnership, a good friendship, or even the balance between your own inner yin and yang. This week may present you with opportunities to find the harmony you need. Be ready. Work toward unity, keep it in mind, and things will work out.
Scorpio ♏ (October 23 - November 21): Seven of Swords
This card usually refers to a theft of some kind. Not necessarily a physical robbery - it can mean a deception of some kind - though I'd advise you to check your security system anyway, Scorpio, just in case, and maybe change some of your passwords. Always better to be on the safe side. Regardless, someone might get away with something this week; it might even be you. Be clever, Scorpio, keep a sharp eye out, and don't shy away from being sneaky if necessary.
Pisces ♓ (February 19 - March 20): Three of Swords (reversed)
This card mostly speaks of recovery and healing, so this week, Pisces, the worst is over for you; whatever pain you've been dealing with will start to fade, whatever grudges you've been holding will finally be forgiven, and you'll finally find the strength to let go and move forward. This can be hard to do; letting go of grievances is something we all struggle with sometimes, but in order to grow and recover, those negative feelings must be released. You are greater than your pain.
Aries ♈ (March 21 - April 19): Death (reversed)
Change is scary, and sometimes it's hard to let go of what was to make room for what can be. Are you afraid of the unknown? Are you afraid to turn the page for fear of what the next chapter may contain? Aries, change is a vital part of growth. You wouldn't be where you are now, had you not let go of who you were before. This week, you may be put through a significant change that might irrevocably alter how you see yourself or the world around you. How will you take this change? Will you allow the loss to hurt you so badly you can't recover? Or will you look forward to the bright, open future ahead of you?
Leo ♌ (July 23 - August 22): Knight of Cups (reversed)
Sometimes the things for which we're most excited don't work out the way we thought they would. That new relationship that seemed so perfect hits the rocks inside of a week; that new job opportunity you landed turns out to be a lot harder, or different from what you expected; that exciting travel destination turns out to be far less glamourous than you had in mind. Life is full of disappointments; not much you can do, really, apart from picking yourself back up, dusting yourself off, and moving forward.
Sagittarius ♐ (November 22 - December 21): The High Priestess (reversed)
Sometimes, through all of life's muck and mire, our intuition can get stifled, silenced, buried underneath all of the petty drama of everyday life. The feeling of being blocked, being cut off from our own intuition, is not a pleasant one, but, as much as I hate to break it to you, Sagittarius, it is what you'll be experiencing this week. You may experience wavering faith, either in yourself or in whatever higher power you choose to follow; your inside voice might get kind of quiet in the coming days, making you feel lost and off-center. Try to get back in touch with your gut; take a soothing nature walk, meditate, whatever works for you.
Libra ♎ (September 23 - October 22): Ace of Pentacles (reversed)
Money, especially in our society, can be a tricky thing; on the one hand, money is needed for pretty much everything, and having enough of it can certainly make life more manageable, but on the other hand, not only can money not buy happiness, but it can in fact often be the root cause of a lot of stress, especially if one's attempts to accumulate it go sideways. I'm sorry to break it to you, Libra, but it looks like, financially speaking, this is not your best week. Though there is, was, or will be some sort of opportunity, either there's something blocking you from seizing that opportunity or you simply missed (or will miss) your chance. Don't be too worried about it; life is full of opportunities, and another door will open for you soon.
Aquarius ♒ (January 20 - February 18): The Hierophant (reversed)
While sometimes it may be better to do things the way they're always done, this week is certainly not one of those times. If you feel yourself stagnating this week, Aquarius, try something different. Break out of the mold, rebel against the status quo, because tradition is all well and good but when it crosses the line into conformity, then it must be broken away from. You are on your own path; you don't need to follow popular consensus or strict rules. They are there for a reason, yes, but this week they only serve to confine you. Break free, Aquarius, and spread your wings.
Gemini ♊ (May 21 - June 20): The Sun (reversed)
Oftentimes the thing we're missing turns out to be right in front of us; this week, Gemini, it'll be tough for you to battle your own mind and mood to see the light. If a negative mindset hasn't already befallen you, it may do so soon, and I'd suggest doing what you can to look past the clouds. If you're not doing great, and need some help being optimistic about your situation, try focusing as much as you can on the good things you know you have in life. Do you have a beloved pet? A good friend that always has your back? A favourite movie or TV show? Focus on these things, lean on them. They'll see you through.
Capricorn ♑ (December 22 - January 19): Seven of Wands
This week especially, Capricorn, beware of pride. When your focus is centered inward, it can become too easy to see jealous enemies and judgemental critics everywhere, even in your own friends and family. Sometimes a bit of competitiveness can give you a leg up, but if you fall into the habit of constantly trying to one-up or beat everyone around you, or of comparing yourself to others, your actions can become very destructive, very quickly. Not everyone is out to get you, Capricorn. You can let your guard down a little.
Taurus ♉ (April 20 - May 20): Strength (reversed)
This week may bring up some self-esteem issues you've been struggling with, Taurus. What are you afraid of? Yourself? Control? Leadership? Public speaking? You might feel like you're not strong or brave enough to handle the world around you. You're going to feel tempted to hide; from the world, from the people in your life, from yourself. Instead of this, you need to examine the source of this self-doubt; if you can find and work through whatever it is that's making you feel this way, you can move past this block and grow as a person.
Virgo ♍ (August 23 - September 22): Queen of Cups
As a Virgo, you generally tend to value reason over emotion, head over heart, and that usually works a treat. There's nothing wrong with being logical and methodical, but it's always best to be well-rounded, so this week, I encourage you to try listening to your emotions and your intuition; your heart and your gut are wiser than you give them credit for. You can relax a bit this week, give that big, analytical brain of yours a break, and let yourself be led with a trusting heart. Have faith in yourself, Virgo. You're doing great.
