Hello again, and thank you for joining me once more! Another long week has passed, and with it comes the fresh, earthy smell of spring on the wind. Snow is melting, the earth is thawing, and last year's grass can finally be seen again. Today, too, the moon - recently new and waxing - transitions to Aries, infusing the coming days with energy and fire. The air buzzes with opportunity and hope.
Today, I'd like to reiterate that my readings are not meant to be taken as instructions; I only offer advice and the general shape of what this next week may bring. This being said, if one of my readings did help you, please drop me a line, either by leaving a comment on the post, or by use of the contact form on the left. I would love to hear from you!
Now, to begin. A candle is lit (quick sidenote; I find it easier to light the incense (and moreover, to keep it lit) with the help of a candle, as it's more than a little frustrating when you light a match, use it to light the incense, put out the match, and then the incense immediately goes out. Having a candle lit nearby mitigates this issue, as there's a consistent source of flame nearby), the incense lit from it. This week I decided to use a scent from Hem, the Black Magic incense to be precise. The altar cloth is laid out, the deck brought out and shuffled, shuffled, knocked, blown through, held in the smoke, cut, shuffled back together. The cards are now clear, and as I continue shuffling I center my mind on the stars, the signs, and any messages from the former to the latter.
As a reminder, the layout of the cards is such:
 |
image ID: 12 tarot cards laid out face down on an altar cloth, with the symbols of the zodiac signs overlaid on them. The signs, left to right, are: Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio, Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Aquarius, Gemini, Libra, Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo. |
The signs are organized and grouped by element, rather than by date, and the cards placed on the corresponding quadrant of my altar cloth. This week, the cards themselves fell thus:
 |
Image ID: the cards from the previous image, now face up. Left to right: 4 of cups reversed, the fool, 6 of wands reversed, 6 of cups, 10 of wands reversed, ace of swords, 4 of pentacles, 6 of swords, 6 of pentacles, 7 of swords, the lovers, the star. |
So now let's get to the interpretations.
Pisces ♓ (February 19 - March 20): Four of Cups (reversed)
Every cloud has its silver lining, Pisces. Don't ignore the good things in your life just because some things went wrong, or take them for granted in favor of boredom or pessimism. Your life is full of blessings, but this week you might find yourself stuck in a downward spiral. You need to get out of your own head and look around you; you might find that you're in a better place than you think.
Cancer ♋ (June 21 - July 22): The Fool
Of all the cards, the Fool is, I think, my favorite. It's one of the cards most often misinterpreted; the Fool doesn't represent foolishness or unintelligence; it represents new beginnings, fresh starts, innocence, and a free spirits. The Fool is a blank slate, taking the first step of her journey with optimism and hope, and this week, cancer, that is the attitude that you ought to nurture. You are really going to be feeling the energy of spring, and new doors are going to open to you, new opportunities to begin anew, make a fresh start. Don't be afraid to take hold of life with both hands, Cancer! You miss 100% of the shots you don't take!
Scorpio ♏ (October 23 - November 21): Six of Wands (reversed)
What is failure? What does it mean to you, and how do you process it? It's been said many times, by many wise people, that failure is only the opportunity to learn and grow. Whatever happened to you, Scorpio, or will happen to you, don't let it break you; learn from your experience, use it to help you rebuild. When you hit rock bottom, after all, the only place left to go is up.
Aries ♈ (March 21 - April 19): Six of Cups
Something might happen this week that will make you feel nostalgic, Aries. Perhaps a childhood friend might reach out, or a conversation with your family might have you harking back to your golden days. There's nothing wrong with reminiscing; happy memories can be a wonderful source of joy and comfort, but try not to get so stuck in the past that you neglect the present. It may not be a pleasant one, but it's where you are, and thus must be focused on.
Leo ♌ (July 23 - August 22): Ten of Wands (reversed)
Well, I'll just come right out and say it, Leo; you're taking on more than you can handle. Either you've shouldered a project too big for one person to handle alone, or you're being pulled in a hundred different directions, or you're picking up other peoples' slack; whatever the case may be, Leo, you can't do everything alone. Asking for help and delegating is hard; trust me, I know. But no matter how strong and independent you are, you're still just one person, and all of us need help sometimes. There are people around you who are willing to lend a hand, but you've got to be the one to reach out to them; you only get what you ask for.
Sagittarius ♐ (November 22 - December 21): Ace of Swords
Eureka! You're gonna have a breakthrough, Sagittarius; the clouds will part, everything will start to make sense, and your mind has never been clearer. Swords as a whole speak to communication and mental pursuits, so it's possible that this is the week you finally figure out what you want to do with your life, find the career that fits you like a glove, or the post-secondary path that fulfills you. This is the week to make plans and set your goals for the future; if you can follow through on this energy, you'll be well on your way to success.
Aquarius ♒ (January 20 - February 18): Four of Pentacles (reversed)
We live in a world that ranks monetary success about all else, and that is simply not healthy. This week, Aquarius, you need to examine your relationship with your finances; if you've internalized the money-centric attitude of the western world, you may be prioritizing money to the detriment of other aspect of your life and happiness. While I understand that our economy is a dystopian nightmare, and we sometimes have no choice but to fuss over it, be careful not to become an outright miser. Your emotional and psychological well-being is just as important as your financial situation.
Gemini ♊ (May 21 - June 20): Six of Swords (reversed)
Anchors are necessary to keep a ship secure during a storm, but once the storm is over, all they do is prevent it from setting sail. You may feel like the world is holding its breath, Gemini, like everything is waiting for you; you may wonder why your life suddenly seems to be on hold. The answer, quite naturally, is you. You're being held back, by your own attachments; letting go is never easy, but if these ties are restraining you, then you've got to cut them. Your priority, Gemini, must always be your own growth.
Libra ♎ (September 23 - October 22): Six of Pentacles
This card symbolizes charity and generosity. You've been having a hard time this past week, Libra, but this card is telling you that help is on the way. Perhaps a generous friend with loose pockets is about to learn of your fiscal situation. Perhaps you're about to get an intern at work that will help you sort out your professional plights. Perhaps you're going to get some really good advice. Whatever form this aid comes in, don't be afraid to take it; it is given in the pure spirit of compassion and generosity.
Capricorn ♑ (December 22 - January 19): Seven of Swords
This card usually refers to a theft of some kind. Not necessarily a physical robbery - it can mean a deception of some kind - though I'd advise you to check your security system anyway, Capricorn, just in case, and maybe change some of your passwords. Always better to be on the safe side. Regardless, someone might get away with something this week; it might even be you. Be clever, Capricorn, keep a sharp eye out, and don't shy away from being sneaky if necessary.
Taurus ♉ (April 20 - May 20): The Lovers
If you've been looking for a partner, Taurus, this is your lucky week, though this card doesn't always refer to a romantic partnership. This could apply to a business partnership, a good friendship, or even the balance between your own inner yin and yang. This week may present you with opportunities to find the harmony you need. Be ready. Work toward unity, keep it in mind, and things will work out.
Virgo ♍ (August 23 - September 22): The Star
The Star is, to me, the card of hope. There's a light at the end of the tunnel, Virgo; the sun is rising and you may find this week that you're actually doing okay. Your faith may be restored somewhat this week, you might get a spark of inspiration; this is the week to dream, hope, and wish. Outlining what it is you want is the first step to manifesting and achieving it. Don't be afraid to dream big! Right now the only limit is your imagination. Save realism for later and shoot for the moon.
