Horoscope Reading April 17 - 23

Full moon tonight, readers! This weekend will be a high-energy one, and with the moon in Libra, it's the perfect time to try and find balance within ourselves, and harmony with those around us. On top of that, this week the Aries season comes to a close and the Taurus season begins, so astrologically speaking, there's plenty to do. I do hope that my taroscope (as I have recently begun calling it) gives you some insight into how to approach this very powerful week; and on that note, on to the main event!

I decided not to use incense this week, opting instead to shuffle the deck for longer and more thoroughly to clear them, as I haven't used this deck all that much, so I figured there was probably not that much energy to clear anyway. Once cleared, I charged the cards with the intention of this reading, and laid them out in their places.

A quick aside; as I have been doing some studying on the signs, and have thus gotten more familiar with such concepts as cardinal, fixed, and mutable signs, I've recently been thinking of changing the layout of this spread to reflect this. Most likely by next week I'll be using the updated layout and card order.

If only for this week, however, the layout of the cards is such:

image ID: 12 tarot cards laid out face down on an altar cloth, with the symbols of the zodiac signs overlaid on them. The signs, left to right, are: Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio, Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Aquarius, Gemini, Libra, Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo.

The signs are organized and grouped by element, and the cards placed on the corresponding quadrant of my altar cloth. This week, the cards themselves fell thus:

Image ID: the cards from the previous image, now face up. Left to right: knight of cups, 8 of swords, the tower, 10 of swords, the chariot, 5 of swords reversed, queen of pentacles reversed, temperance, queen of wands, the empress, 2 of wands reversed, 2 of swords.

So now let's get to the interpretations.

Pisces ♓ (February 19 - March 20): Knight of Cups

This card usually heralds the arrival of a romance, or the beginning of an adventure. This week, Pisces, you may find yourself at the start of something new; whether a new relationship, an exciting new internship or opportunity at work, or the chance to travel somewhere new and exotic. Don't hold yourself back; you're a natural romantic, and a dreamer, and these traits will serve you well this week.

Cancer ♋ (June 21 - July 22): Eight of Swords

The unfortunate thing about anxiety is that it tends to be a self-fulfilling prophecy. When thinking about a situation, we start to worry and fret, we start to doubt ourselves, we start to think of all the ways that the situation can go wrong, and in doing so, we hinder ourselves. Your situation, Cancer, seems worse to you than it actually is, and your work this week is to try and free yourself from your own self-victimizing attitude and realize that the only one holding you back is you.

Scorpio ♏ (October 23 - November 21): The Tower

I'm sure we've all seen at least one show where a character is doing a tarot reading for another character and dramatically flips over a card to reveal the Death card. This is meant to be some kind of omen to that character's doom, and it's one of my greatest pet peeves because that's not what the Death card means at all. The card that those character should be drawing to foretell those big scary calamities is this one; the Tower. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, Scorpio, but you've got a storm coming your way; a big one. The Tower foretells disaster, destruction, and upheaval, so my advice is, brace yourself.

Aries ♈ (March 21 - April 19): Ten of Swords

Nobody likes endings. I know I sure don't. But endings are an intrinsic part of life, no matter how painful they can sometimes be, and this week, Aries, you're going to be experiencing a rather painful ending of your own. As this card also speaks of betrayal, this abrupt ending may come in the form of someone you know stabbing you in the back, so be ready for that. Still, everything happens for a reason; every loss and defeat is a chance to learn, heal, and grow. Whoever is behind this will reveal themself to have never been worth your time in the first place, and you'll eventually find that you're miles better without them.

Leo ♌ (July 23 - August 22): The Chariot

Big things are heading your way, Leo; opportunities and posiibilities. It'll be up to you to gather up the drive and the willpower to achieve the success you're capable of; if you want it bad enough, you can make it happen. A door, after all, will not open itself - you've got to reach out and turn the handle. Be confident, be self-assured, and stoke that fire in your belly; you've got power and incredible potential; all you've got to do is use it.

Sagittarius ♐ (November 22 - December 21): Five of Swords (reversed)

There's been some conflict in your life recently, Sagittarius, but you're finally coming out the other side of it. This week, all that tension in your social life is starting to loosen up a bit, and it'll be up to you to build back better, so to speak. There may be some lingering resentment from past fights, either from or toward you, but try to find it in you to forgive those that wronged you and make amends with those you wronged. Reconciliation is an essential part of your spiritual growth.

Aquarius ♒ (January 20 - February 18): Queen of Pentacles (reversed)

In all things there must be balance, and this week, Aquarius, you may find it hard to find the right balance between your home life and your work life. Aquarians generally tend to forget their day-to-day in favour of their big ideas, but this week especially, you have to make sure you're not neglacting your home life. Carve out some time in your busy schedule for your family and friends, and give some love to the people that love you.

Gemini ♊ (May 21 - June 20): Temperance

Now, Gemini, is the time for patience and moderation. It may be a challenging week for you, given that these traits are not your strong suit, but if you can remain calm, collected and, above all, patient, then you'll find balance and harmony in everything you do. This week it's important to look before you leap, think before you act, and avoid extremes in as much as possible; if a middle path is presented to you, opt for it, and if one is not, then try to find it anyway.

Libra ♎ (September 23 - October 22): Queen of Wands

The Queen of Wands is a card that speaks to strength, charisma and positivity. Everybody loves you this week, Libra; you're truly being your best self, inspiring those around you, and generally have everything handled. This will be a good week for you, so long as you remember to keep up that positive attitude and keep your heart open to those around you. Keep up the good work and praise and accolades are sure to be heaped upon you!

Capricorn ♑ (December 22 - January 19): The Empress

You've been chugging along like a champ, Capricorn, and now that things are starting to clear up for you, your creative energy is at an all-time high. Given the maternal influences of this card, it can signal the "birth" of a new idea or project, and encourages you to nurture it, fan your creative spark, and create something beautiful. Don't be afraid to put your heart and soul into this project; the greatest works in history are labours of love and passion, and these will benefit you in your creative journey.

Taurus ♉ (April 20 - May 20): Two of Wands (reversed)

The unfortunate thing about plans is that they need to be made, and as it currently stands, Taurus, that arduous task is still ahead of you. The process of taking brainstorms and vague ideas and putting them together to make a solid and cohesive plan is a long and tough one, and somewhat daunting. This week there may be some doubts and insecurities that creep up on you, and you may even start to think that you're not up to the task. Ignore those thoughts. All big and impossible-seeming tasks are simply made up of small annoyances, and you've dealt with plenty of those already; this'll be a piece of cake. Have faith in yourself, Taurus. You got this.

Virgo ♍ (August 23 - September 22): Two of Swords

When you process information like a computer, most of the time it's easy to know exactly which way to go. There is, though the occasional desicion where one choice doesn't seem better or worse than the other, and you're caught in a stalemate trying to figure out which of your options is the right one. The important thing to understand here is that you don't have to make this decision right away. This week, Virgo, deliberate. Ask questions, get more information, remain still for the time being. Let that internal GPS of yours recalculate and, eventually, you will figure out the best path for you.

Though I make no promises or guarantees (as stated in the disclaimers of my introductory post), I do hope that this reading is helpful to you in the coming week, and if it does turn out to be accurate, please don't hesitate to leave a comment or reach out! I'd love to hear feedback. Also, if you'd like to share your plans for tonight's full moon, I would love to hear (read) about them, so don't hesitate on leaving a comment for that, too!

A couple quick reminders; I do personal readings on fiverr, only $5-$15 per depending on the complexity of the spread, and I also have a patreon, if you enjoyed this blog and want to support it! I will also be setting up a stand at the Aurora Famer's Market and Artisan Fair with a colleague of mine this summer, so if you're in the York Region of Ontario and have nothing better to do on a Saturday morning, come on by! He and I will be selling our handmade jewelry and doing tarot readings.

You can also follow me on Tumblr or Instagram if you'd like to hear more from me, even though I don't really post all that much.

Thank you so much for reading, and I will be back with another post next week!
